I has a dilemma...
Aug. 31st, 2011 05:27 pmBuuuuut! I have a problem - what do you wear to go visit Google's UK HQ?
I'm going to go app testing for them tomorrow, and they've already made me sign a huuuuuuugely long non-disclosure agreement (but I bet it's not as long as Apple's is, lol ) and now I am freaking out about what to wear.
Geeky tshirt and jeans? Tunic, leggings and dressy jacket? A sandwich board saying "I <3 U GOOGLE!"? Idk..
But I'm going to be spending the rest of the day bumming around London, and getting a gloooorious tofu and avocado salad from Tobuki (Tuboki? idk, it's in Covent Garden near CyberCandy) and then going hunting for some cheapy sunglasses in Camden. I really hope it doesn't rain....
*fingers crossed*
Why is it that here in the UK, I can pay around £20 for a worldwide single trip, with a £75 excess and medical, baggage, flight, personal belongings and legal coverage, but in the US they want upwards of $150 for just MEDICAL? At this point I'm just crossing all my fingers and toes in the hope that Virgin Atlantic doesn't decide to strike this summer, or strikes before
Things I already hate about TF: Prime
Nov. 28th, 2010 05:37 pm
So......TF: Prime. I think all my thoughts can be summed up in the fact that I couldn't even make it through the first episode. I just.....ugh. I'll keep reading people's reviews, and i'll keep an eye out for possibly-interesting stuff happening in it, but so far Maffy no likey ;.;
Things that particularly pissed me off/made me go D8 -

It's stuff like this that makes me want to go all SPN and stab people in the throat Dx
No, I don't think there should be any restrictions. That way lies the path of craziness. Restrictions imply rules, and the idea of box-ticking to be allowed to reproduce is frankly horrifying, to me. Every person is an individual, and every person's situation is going to be different, even in the tiniest ways, that there is no way that sort of a system could ever be fair or correct.
Not that I want kids of my own ;P
I agree 100% that there are some people who should never have reproduced, who have done some horrific things to their kids. But there are also cases you hear about in the papers, about parents who have had their kids taken from them by social services and adopted on very shaky 'evidence' of wrong doing, and they can't speak out to the media because of silencing laws on the family courts. There are stories of parents having to literally go on the run to try and keep their kids, because over-zealous social services officials seemed to think there might be some possibility of future abuse.
I agree with
tiny_green_leaf in that it needs to be made more acceptable for people to not have children, for whatever reason they choose. Also, there needs to be more encouragement for adoption. But there's very little difference between 'I'm telling you you must have children', and 'I'm telling you you can't have children'. Both are an unacceptable control over a woman's body that can seriously, and sometimes catastrophically affect their life, and should never ever happen. If there is a situation where children are being neglected, then yes the authorities should step in. But you can't ever assume before the child is even born. :/
Just my two cents on the matter. xD
Sod this for a game of soldiers >/
Aug. 23rd, 2010 04:42 pmFirst rent payment for my room is due on wednesday. Not yay >/
My student loans, which is how i'm going to be paying for everything, doesn't get paid to me until I actually start uni. NOT YAY Dx.
I opened a student account, so I could put my rent on my overdraft until I get my student loan. Yay!
The card that will enable me to pay doesn't come until 'sometime' this week. :/
I phoned my uni's accomodation office, explaining everything and asking if I could pay maybe thursday or friday when my card came in.....lady on the other end just sat in silence, then said 'no, that wouldn't be acceptable.'
So.......what the hell am I going to do? I'm willing to go into debt before I even start uni, so I can pay for my room, and there's nothing else I can do. Plus, it's not like they're loosing money, since no one can move into their accomodation until the 1st september anyway. Grrrrrr >/.
~ Maybe it's because i'm a Londoner...~

May. 7th, 2010 12:24 amI did lol like /mad/ when I saw the Lib Dems only had 56-ish in the exit poll, compared to the Conservatives' 300+ and Labour's 250+. That's what you get for blantantly lying, boyos! >D
Only got three seats in, and it's 12.22am. Somehow I /don't/ think we'll have a result at 1am xD

Feb. 23rd, 2010 08:24 pmSo, as ever, I completely fail at updating ^^; I blame my laptop, which in it's crap, vista-riddled state makes it very difficult to post >.> Oh well, my new years resolution was to update at least once a week, which I officially announce shall start from now!
So, things that have happened over the past month or two.....
- I went and auditioned for the BBC's Over The Rainbow show, where Andrew Lloyd Webber searches for a Dorothy for his new west-end musical version of The Wizard of Oz. I didn't get past the first round of auditions, but the competition was really tough - unlike Britain's Got Talent or the X Factor, only the really exceptional singers get through. There were girls who had been having private classical voice training for the past ten years who were rejected as well, so I'm not too beat up over it ^^
- Work is going ok, apart from the fact that I seem to be constantly sick from catching things from the babies. Just this month alone, I caught the flu, conjunctivitus and a horrible stomach bug. I feel like going around in a plastic bubble to let my immune system recover for a while, hehe.
- I AM OFFICIALLY GOING TO BOTCON 8D. I booked my flight at the end of January, so i'm off for a two week holiday to Florida starting the 22nd June through to the 5th July. I'll be meeting up with the AWESOME
-I'm also going to see Lady Gaga's Monster's Ball tour in London this week. CANNOT WAIT >D
Also, since I haven't posted any fandom-related stuff in aaaaages, have a link. Back in November last year, I joined the
